80’s Gretsch USA Custom
"That great Gretsch sound."
There is no secret to why that was an easy slogan for the infamous Gretsch drum company.
Countless recordings feature Gretsch drums built in the late 70's and early 80's. During this period, the Jasper Wood company produced all the shells for Grestch, and when they did, they normally used a combination of Maple and Gum wood in a 6-ply construction with a 30-degree bearing edge. With no reinforcement hoop, the fundamental tone of these shells is deeper and punchier but also tune up for be-bop/Jazz with ease. Another feature of this era of Grestch was the heavy cast lugs and die cast hoops.
There was no expense spared on these shells. The brilliant craftsmanship is evident with each strike of the drums.
Rounded out with the legendary 80s Tama bell brass snare, you can now add this incredible kit to your library.
