When it comes to drums, we like a formula that is more simplistic and uncomplicated. The Santa Monica Series drums from DW are just that. The six-ply maple (w/ six-ply reinforcement hoop) shells are highly preferred and we love how that reinforcement ring raises the pitch just enough to take any "mud" out of the tone and gives a crispy and exciting sound when recording drums.
The Santa Monica series can work with any head combination the tuning range is second to none. They are just as good for Jazz as they are for heavy metal and everything in between.
The kit captured in our library has a custom finish that is actually a huge part of the sound. It's a matte specialty lacquer finish that allows the drum to breathe and resonate more than a drum with a regular lacquer or a wrap with glue.

Built for use in Kontakt 6 or above. This DW Santa Monica Series kit has been meticulously tuned, captured, and prepared for a streamlined workflow in your productions and compatibility for external midi devices and electronic drum sets.
Our samples are carefully prepared to give you the highest quality sound with the most flexibility to make your own mix decisions. LA Session Drummer has 2 mix modes. Stereo (default) or Pro-Mode which allows for routing out any or all mic sources to their own dedicated stereo channel.
These world class drum sounds for E-Kit users just as much as music producers, composers, and songwriters. Midi presets for all Roland, Alesis, Pearl, EFNOTE, and Yamaha kits are built into the midi preset banks. Additionally you may save and load your own custom midi mappings to match your hardware and workflow.

The Santa Monica series can work with any head combination I throw at them and the tuning range is 2nd to none. They are just as good for Jazz as they are for heavy metal and everything in between. One unique feature of this kit is the matte lacquer finish that allows the drum to breathe and resonate more than a drum with a regular lacquer or a wrap with glue. Included in this sample pack is a snare every drummer and producer should have in their collection, a 14x6.5 Ludwig (1974) Black Beauty which has been sampled snares on and off. To match the versatility of these drum shells I hand picked a set of Istanbul Agop cymbals including a pair of 14" Joey Waronker HiHats. -Zak St. John
